DMCA Takedown

POST /api/v1/clip-rewards/takedown

File a DMCA takedown notice against a published clip. pepe.business processes takedowns automatically within 24 hours — the clip is delisted, associated claims are voided, and any unpaid earnings are returned to the campaign budget.

This endpoint is authenticated and rate-limited (5 requests / hour per IP, 20 / day per user) to prevent anonymous abuse. Repeat filers with good-faith violations get priority processing.

Good-faith statement (REQUIRED)

You must include goodFaithStatement: true, attesting under penalty of perjury (17 U.S.C. § 512) that:

  1. You own the copyright to the source work, or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf
  2. The clip in question infringes your copyright
  3. You have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by law

False statements expose you to perjury charges and pepe.business will suspend your account.

The takedown.filed webhook is fired immediately. When processing completes, the takedown transitions to completed and the clip is removed.

Counter-notice flow

If the clipper believes the takedown was filed in error (e.g. fair use), they have 14 days to file a counter-notice via the dashboard. A counter-notice:

  1. Must include a statement under penalty of perjury that the material was removed in error
  2. Triggers a 10-14 business day window during which pepe.business may restore the clip
  3. Allows the original filer to file a federal court action — if no action is filed within 14 business days, the clip is restored

The original filer is notified by email when a counter-notice is filed.
